India Batters Rise in ICC T20I Rankings After World Cup Glory

India’s dominant performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has resulted in major improvements for several Indian players in the latest ICC T20 International rankings.

After their commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final at Ahmedabad, India not only secured the championship but also saw their players climb significantly in the global rankings. The updated rankings released by the ICC highlight the impact of India’s impressive campaign.

Indian opener Abhishek Sharma continues to hold the No.1 spot among T20I batters after playing a crucial innings in the final, where he scored a rapid half-century against New Zealand. His consistent form throughout the tournament helped him maintain the top position.

Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan has moved up to second place in the batting rankings. The left-hander had a standout tournament, accumulating 317 runs, which helped him achieve the highest rating points of his career and close the gap on Sharma to just a few points.

Players from other teams also made significant progress. Tim Seifert of New Zealand climbed to sixth place after strong performances during the competition, while England’s Jacob Bethell made a remarkable jump in the rankings following several impactful innings.

New Zealand’s aggressive opener Finn Allen also improved his position after producing one of the most memorable moments of the tournament. He smashed a 33-ball century against South Africa in the semi-final, setting a new record for the fastest hundred in Men’s T20 World Cup history.

Among Indian players, Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube also advanced in the batting rankings thanks to their valuable contributions during the tournament.

In the bowling rankings, Afghanistan star Rashid Khan has regained the top spot among T20I bowlers. India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who previously led the list, has slipped to second place after the tournament concluded.

Several other bowlers also moved up the rankings, including Adil Rashid, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel, all of whom impressed with their performances during the World Cup.

The competition remains intense in the T20I all-rounder rankings as well. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza and India’s Hardik Pandya currently occupy the top two spots, both achieving career-best rating points this week.

Other all-rounders who improved their standings include New Zealand’s captain, who entered the top ten, and England’s Will Jacks, whose performances in the tournament helped him climb further up the list.

India’s successful World Cup campaign has not only brought another trophy but also strengthened the global reputation of several Indian players in the shortest format of the game.
